Modernist Oil Painting – Three Figures with Cat – Signed in Arabic – Framed

A modernist composition in oil: three mask-like figures with large, steady eyes, and a pale cat standing on an outstretched arm between them. Flat, blocky forms in muted rose, grey-blue and ochre, with a dark horizon band across the upper edge. The handling is thickly worked and matte, in the manner of mid-century Levantine modernism.

Signature and inscription

Signed by the artist in Arabic script in the lower left corner of the composition, with what appears to be a date following the signature. The signature is reproduced in the detail photograph exactly as it appears on the work — we have not transcribed or interpreted it, and we make no attribution to a named artist.
